http://www.ducttapemarketing.com/blog/2012/09/28/how-to-create-a-social-media-command-center-for-your-next-sale-launch-or-event/
Hello readers, we at succinct news are happy to welcome you to our daily blog. You will find a little of everything here.. a bit of solar news and the growing independent energy movement, some great homeschooling news from homeschooled teens with gifted community involvement, some entertainment news including news about our own blog author, jesse cannella and did i mention small business news to help those starting out and even "veterans" of small business compete using all the techno age tools.  So today, we have another article submitted to duct tape marketing by the very cutting-edge author, John Jantsch.  In the link you can connect to some great ideas to promote your business and use "social media" to your best advantage in attracting business and using creative ways to compete with the "big" guys on the block. John describes how to set up a "command center " for your next sales , launch or event. For more about John Jantsch, please read the link and books suggested for small business.
I will list the 18 points for simple ways to start getting your customers talking about your next big "thing".
You can use some or all of the strategies listed here..Even small local businessmen can take a clue from the large organization like a dell or a national event like the MLB ALL-star game. to create a command center. Approach it as a special event and not something you're trying to maintain longterm.
a common example would be "black friday" associated with major shopping holidays. Small business saturday is also another big marketing event. How do small businesses compete with big box chains? That's another big question to consider...We all know the walmarts and big store chains that have put a major hit on small local businesses. It's an adverse economy and doubly " challenging" when you think of how the big businesses have done some serious harm to the smaller ones. What it requires of small businesses is to create a command center or "special ops" method to take back business and this could be the answer. Let's say you wanted to start with an "anti-black friday" theme. You would want to employ social media and promote with a "bull horn" and protest strategy.. It's definitely what small business has.. Small business has charm, it has unique products, it has custom products you don't find anywhere else, including at the big brand stores. There is always a way to market small business and the positive light that small businesses have appeals to all...even as small businesses unite with other small businesses at the chamber or in a community, there is more safety in numbers so they say and attracting business from the big guys on the block could mean the smaller ones have to unify efforts for successful business.
Okay , lets examine the ways small business can get their message out there and use all the tech tools available.
Any entrepreneur can use one or all of these suggestions for social media blitz!!
* create a logo for your theme. a simple visual has a strong impact for marketing your idea
*decide on and check event history with a hashtag, make hashtag legit and not confusing.
*claim your fb location for check ins , offer options for earning prizes.. see wildfire and north social apps.
*twitter hashtag tweets about store posters, flyers and emails
*choose a local related charity partner
*twitter search
*pinterest
*live blog
*live tweets
*google hangout
*foursquare checkins focused on swarm discounts
*hourly specials
*display real time stream
*bring facebook into the event with a camera station and let customers  upload images to fb pages for more free stuff
*Hide discount codes in utube videos
*facebook ads, run tightly focused facebook ads and promoted contact adds focused on real and related brands
*tweet branded messages to get early access
* consider a street team for prize giveaways for tweeting, liking or sharing images
*momentum factor
All this takes work and planning and it seems a team of people would be needed to manage this "event" for small business sales and one day swarm discounts. All the energy that goes into one promotion could take alot of manpower hours and prizes..? that is expense too.. The little guy wins when they can outsmart and outhustle the big guy but its not an automatic price war! It takes very creative ideas and a team of employees willing to do extra work.. but one well-managed event could turn into long-term business and success so keep rolling with the new ideas and ways to promote on social media. This strategy is especially good for "products" rather than services but i would think any "service" business could benefit from using the tools listed here. Green products and services have made a niche and taking small business to a whole new level with a legit lifestyle that is based on organic products and health. I see they are using excellent creative ideas and i salute all the new "green businesses and products" making their way into the mainstream.!
