Hello readers and criminal justice fans, There will be massive overkill on this top story and advise young viewers not to be subject to the hours and hours of media focused on this crime. Having said that, There's nothing glamorous about today's top story and headlines. It's a tragic day for the "dark knight rises". A film that will be forever associated with this serial mass murder. A tragedy for 12 victims , innocent and unsuspecting, who attended a movie theater in Aurora , Colorado for a midnight screening of the movie. In a post 911 nation, are we again letting down our guard and security? Isn't homeland security supposed to protect the people in public places? Are we not demanding enough from our govt. for the public safety of our own people? Have we forgotten how "terror" happens and what we need to prevent acts of violence and terror? This tragedy will ring out like a church bell tolling on the hilltops, echoing in our souls. It brings to mind the columbine Colorado event , where senseless and meaningless killings took place in a public school.. the toll of human life extinquished, the innocence lost, the failures of a system in this country that is destroying our youth day by day. This tragedy also highlights a more recent event that took place in Arizona. A crime leaving many dead and Gabby Giffords, with brain damage, even a young child, Kristina taylor Green died after a ruthless massacre.There were warning and danger signals that parents missed in the troubled young man, the son, who did the unthinkable shootings. When will the violence end? When will this mental illness of pervasive criminality and serial killing end? Can we no longer have peace and civility in public places? Do we need to look for these "criminal minds" , looking over our shoulder and behind our backs daily even as we enter movie theatres, synagogues, libraries, public schools or even the Public square or Town green? Are we not safe anywhere in america? Can we have assurance that our loved ones and family members are safe in their hometown on a summer's eve while attending a movie or outdoor event?? There are parallels between the fantasy of "dark knight rises" and the reality of this crime committed by one single man, dressed in black and responsible for the deaths of 12 people, while injuring many others. The crime resembled a few scenes in the movie where "public places" were assaulted by violent criminals.. A football stadium was one of the "terror attack" sites in the movie. Have we "glammed" up violence in the film industry so much that people cannot process the difference of fantasy and reality?? Where one begins and one ends?? This defense of violent video games, suicidal music lyrics and cinema drama's portraying acts of violence that are corrupting our youth , may be the programming of "mental illness" and the "headlines of violence" that we are seeing in our country at an alarming rate!! As the details are exposed in this "criminal case" , it will be interesting to see how, James Holmes, a highly functioning medical student, deteriorated to become a "mass murderer". The tragedy is compounded when you consider James represented a professional who would "respect" life and then became the "dark" criminal that ended innocent life. Is our healthcare system to blame? Are children being raised on the "poison" of images that create mental illness by the excessive exposure to violence in every "visual aspect" , media, tv, language , cinema even music?? I am searching for the right words to say to the people that have been "traumatized" by this crime and those families that are facing the news of a lost loved one or one wounded in the hospital at this moment. My prayers are joined with those in our nation that are saying, "enough is enough". We must do more to protect and preserve precious life. We must do more to support people who are suffering from mental illness or at least need supervision. People like James Holmes.. should never have opportunity or excuse for crimes like these. I see it as a failure of our country and system that these crimes take place. Are there no "people", mother or father , brother , sister, aunt , uncle, who can see symptoms in a friend , child, brother or relative of mental illness or at least offer help in times of crisis. ?? James Holmes had recently left medical school.. What was he thinking?? Did any one know if he was at risk? Was he without finance? was he without a single person to talk to? How can a person go from normal functioning to the viral dark side in what seems like a "heartbeat". ? Is healthcare corruption the problem? Is healthcare the criminal "element"? More answers to these questions will unfold either politically or non-politically and none will satisfy the justice needed for the victims of the crimes committed by one crazed man. What justice can be derived after crimes against the innocent are committed? Are we, as a nation emersed in crime , witnessing crime on you tube and other devices, making insensitivity to human life the reality? I am a voice asking for justice in crimes against innocent children and for those today that are experiencing the pain of loss in this or other life tragedies. Our society is collapsing and i see the high unemployment rate as the single most damaging factor that is affecting the physical and mental health of our white culture, especially our young white men. A nation that once held pro-life as the central belief , is now a nation under seige by "criminality" and "dark" intent.
What lurks in the criminal mind? There is no sane "conclusion".
