Dear Readers,
How are you? Fantastic I hope. You know, I spent considerable time today pondering what to write in today's blog. Truth is, I haven't done much writing in a long time. I thought and thought, and was completely torn as to what direction to head with this article. So, I decided to let my squirming fingers do the thinking and let them make their own magic. Let's see what they got.
Ok, here's what we came up with. This here is a guide, a guide on survival. How do we all make the most of our time here on the planet? I believe that what we do as humans is ninety nine percent conform and one percent individualize. Almost all of the time, we are doing what is considered "normal." We all seem to do the same things -- eat the same things, listen to the same kind of music, watch the same movies, engage in similar job functions, and so on and so forth. We are almost too predictable! But alas, here is where the one percent comes in to play. This is where we are breaking the norms. Perhaps it is the skeleton in our closet, or the secret we wish not to tell. Perhaps it's the one thing that if you told someone, anyone, you would be laughed at. Or perhaps there is just something about you that is not understood by others. Ok, an example here would help. Let's take war. It is the year 2012, and will all of our advances, people are still killing each other, and perhaps will always be killing each other, in the name of war. Ok, so there is an innate need to kill going on here. Whether you are playing the role of hero or villain, you are, whether purposely or not, promoting the idea of killing.
Ok, I am not condoning or condemning anyone here, merely providing an example -- this is the way the world is, and I'm noting it here, just as an example. What's intriguing is that I know very little about this topic of war, but as I was writing, I had to halt my words, for fear that I was becoming too controversial with my choice of topic. And alas, that seems to go along with my initial point, that if we start discussing our skeletons in the closet or strange beliefs, we will be in some sort of worldly trouble that not be worth getting in to.
So then, how do we move forward with our controversial ideas without fear? How do we survive in a world that will surely condemn us? How do we force change on others when it is unwanted? The answer lies in your heart, and in your faith. Act out of positivity and confidence. When you are going against the grain, and met with an angry face and disconcerting eyes, let your faith guide you. Look inward, remember who you are and why you are here. It is more important to do what you know is right rather than do what will easily appease others, and win you smiles and accolades.
And when you go to bed that night, or any night, remember to say hello to God! It is definitely time to smile now, because you can now rest easy, knowing that for better or worse, you did your best. If the world ended today (Mayan calendar??) you ended your song on the right note.
What more could you ask for?
