More surprisingly, "taken 2" is overtaking the original movie "taken" at double the "success" .!! Taken 2 led the columbus day weekend box office with 50 million domestically according to studio estimates sunday, oct. 7. That's double the haul for Neeson's taken which took 24.7 million in its us debut in early 2009. Taken went on to become the 145 million smash for Neeson, the acaademy award nominated star for "Shindler's List" who has become an unlikely action hero in his 50's . In "taken 2" Nesson returns as a retired CIA agent using his expert espionage and killing skills to tak on a gang of thugs out for revenge against him and his family. Liam gives hope to the aging men and is making a unique statement flipping conventional wisdom on it's head in the film industry's definition of the "action hero". Taken 2 added another 55 million with international markets to rasie a worldwide total of 117 million. Taken 2 was panned by critics as a replay of the original but audiences rarely care what critics thought as they have proven the bedrock of the fans lies in the real meaning of cinema talent and its magnetism is about "escapism and the pure entertainment" value . Obviously Liam, is bringing magic no matter what his age. He definitely connected with his fans.. You have to admit , Arnold schwartznegger, slyvester stallone, bruce willis , Russell Crowe and even Harrison Ford are all in the game of action movies and still "kickin" it at the ripe old ages of 50 plus.. They all have even made comebacks recently.. and it goes to the physical fitness and character of these men to stay the course and take on these "action hero roles" They are not for the faint of heart for sure!! Look at the universal appeal Liam has had at the box office as evidence that he has what it takes even in international markets to bring fans out and "entertain" to the max!
